The Pokemon World Championships has been in full swing this weekend in Anaheim, California. During the opening ceremony two new trailers were released showcasing more Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon news! There is a lot to cover, due to a total of four different trailers/videos released at the same time. We will do an analysis of each trailer in separate posts, this will just be discussing some of the new features revealed.
One of the trailers released showcases Kommo-o using an exclusive Z-Move for him. It is called Clangorous Soulblaze and can only be used by Kommo-o who know Clanging Scales, a move that can only be learned by Kommo-o.
If you have been following the Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon news then you know that there is a new type of Z-Ring. This ring is black and is called the “Z-Power Ring”. It states on the official Pokemon website the following about the new Z-Ring:
In Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon, the main character will put on a Z-Power Ring, which can use even more varieties of Z-Moves than the Z-Ring! And the games also feature new Z-Moves for certain Pokémon!
It is interesting that they state that the new Z-Ring can use a wider variety of Z-Moves, and then states that it can also use Pokemon exclusive Z-Moves. You can also see in the second image that there are some uniquely shaped Z-Crystals, these are probably Pokemon-specific Z-Crystals, but nothing is confirmed other then the unique shape.
New Map of Alola
Above is a picture of the new Alola Region map. You might notice some differences (especially if you look at the animated comparison). In the new map, Alola appears to be in a drought, as most of the lakes and such seem dried up. It is hard to tell with the lighting change as many aspects of the map are desaturated because of the time of day. There are also some building and location differences. Finally, the most obvious thing, the big rift in the sky. This might be a passage way to Ultra Space. No matter where it leads, it probably has something to do with Necrozma.
New Necrozma Form!?!
If you haven’t visited it yet, the Official Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon website is now live. It includes some more information about all the things we are covering here so make sure to go check it out. As the background of the site (and the boxart, it is just separated) is this image:
This appears to be a new Pokemon, or form of an already existing Pokemon. Since there is no mention of another Legendary Pokemon involved in the main storyline (this doesn’t mean it can’t happen), and Mythical Pokemon are almost never involved in the main storyline, then this seems to be another form of an already existing Pokemon. If you look closer at it’s eyes, it appears to have to same pattern as the prism in Ultra Solgaleo and Ultra Lunalla’s forhead. My prediction is that this is the “light” form of Necrozma. (NOTE: None of this is confirmed yet, we don’t even know if this will be a new Pokemon/Form).
Alola Photo Club
A new feature was revealed in a video by Gameinformer. They got the chance to visit and interview the people at Gamefreak. One of the videos they did was with the director of Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon and he was showcasing the Alola Photo Club. This new feature allows you to pose with your Pokemon in different costumes and poses. After you take the photo you can apply stickers to the photo to make it look better. This feature is designed so you can share these photos easily. Normally you have to be in the Alola Photo club in order to take the photos, but occasionally you will be able to take photos in the field, like when Pokemon evolve.
