Terribly sorry for the lack of news posts on the site. Been really busy lately and just haven’t gotten around to it. Nevertheless, this post will be covering all the news since the last update including new Pokemon, features, and more!!!
The first of the new Ultra Beasts revealed, UB: Burst is the “Fireworks Pokemon” and has a habit of exploding it’s head on opponents to deal massive damage. UB: Burst is a Fire/Ghost-type with the ability Beast Boost.
UB Burst tricks targets into letting their guard down as it draws near with its funny gait, swaying this way and that—then shocks them by blowing up its own head without warning. Before they can recover their senses, it steals their vitality, which it’s said to use as a source of energy.
Its head is made up of collection of curious sparks, and it appears to have the wondrous ability to freely remove its own head and make it explode!
Mind Blow is UB: Burst’s new exclusive move. It is shown knocking out a lv. 71 Metagross in one shot.
With this Fire-type special move, the user sacrifices half of its maximum HP to deal damage. It seems par for the course for UB Burst, which attacks others by blowing up its own head. And despite its comical appearance, this move packs some serious power.
The second new Ultra Beast coming to Pokemon Sun and Moon is UB: Assembly. At a whopping 18’01”, UB: Assembly is the same height as the massive Guzzlord, but is still dwarfed by the 30’02” of Celesteela. It is the “Rampart Pokemon” and is a Rock/Steel-type. It is also exclusive to Pokemon Ultra Moon.
While UB Assembly may appear to be made up of stones stacked atop one another, apparently each “stone” is in fact a separate life-form, and this UB is made up of an assemblage of these life-forms.
When confronting another, or when feeling particularly enraged, the eyes on each of these stones begin to glow red. – Official Pokemon Website
The newest Ultra Beast revealed is UB: Adhesive. Being the “Poison Pin Pokemon” it is a solid Poison-type with the ability Beast Boost.
UB Adhesive displays many emotions, and it’s said to be able to understand human speech if it spends enough time together with them.
Their large heads are filled with venom, and they fire this venom from the poisonous needles on top of them. – Official Pokemon Website
New Pokemon Forms
Dusk Mane Necrozma
Dusk Mane Necrozma is the form Necrozma takes on when it morphs with Solgaleo. It is unclear how exactly they morph together, but it is a major part of the story line. It can also learn the new move Photon Geyser, a Psychic-type special move that only Necrozma can learn. This attack engulfs the target in a pillar of light.
Dawn Wings Necrozma
Dawn Wings Necrozma is the form Necrozma takes on when it morphs with Lunala. It is unclear how exactly they morph together, but it is a major part of the story line. It is more powerful then Lunala or Necrozma alone, but it specifically mentions it’s special attack stat receiving a major boost. It can also learn the new move Photon Geyser, a Psychic-type special move that only Necrozma can learn. This attack engulfs the target in a pillar of light.
Solgaleo/Dusk Mane Necrozma
Solgaleo and Lunala get exclusive Z-Moves in this game. Solgaleo’s is called “Searing Sunraze Smash”. Your Solgaleo or Dusk Mane Necrozma must know the move Sunsteel Strike and be holding the Solganium Z to use the Z-Move. It is a Steel-type Z-Move.
Lunala/Dawn Wings Necrozma
Lunala can also use an exclusive Z-Move. It is called “Menacing Moonraze Maelstrom” and Lunala or Dawn Wings Necrozma must know the move Moongeist Beam and be holding the Lunalium Z. It is a Ghost-type move.
Ultra Space – New Dimension
Ultra Recon Squad
The new “Team” in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon is called the Ultra Recon Squad. In the image above (from left to right) we have Dulse, Zossie, Soliera, and Phyco. Some in-game shots show them having Ultra Beasts as their partner Pokemon. The premise of the team is doing research in Ultra Space about Ultra Beasts, Necrozma, and anything else to do with crossing diminsions. They seem to be a good team, probably similar to the Aether Foundation in Sun and Moon.
Ultra Megalopolis is a new city located in Ultra Space. It is where the headquarters for the Ultra Recon Squad is located. There is a huge tower in the middle of the city with a bright light at the top of it. Necrozma has stolen all the light from the city except from the tower.
In Ultra Space, you have the ability to travel through the Ultra Wormhole into other a parts of the Ultra Dimension. These locations include the homes of the Ultra Beasts, and legendary Pokemon. It is unsure exactly how it will work.
Powered Up Rotom Dex
The Rotom Pokedex is getting an upgrade, and has some actually useful features. As you “grow closer” to your Rotom dex, more of these features will unlock.
Roto Loto is a special feature in the Rotom dex which allows you to win items/effects for a period of time. Once you win an item, it is stored in your bag until you want to use it. Known possible prizes:
- Roto EXP. Points: increasing EXP
- Roto Prize Money: increasing prize money
- easier to catch Pokemon
- Roto Encounter: higher level Pokemon appearing in the wild
- Roto Hatch: Shortening amount of steps needed to hatch eggs
- Roto HP Restore: ???
- Roto Bargain: ???
- Roto Friendships: ???
- Roto Stealth: ???
Rotom Dex has its own Z-Move. This move allows your Pokemon to use another Z-Move during a battle, for a total of two in one battle. It is unclear as to if this feature will be useable online, or if it takes a turn from the battle.
Also, Rotom dex might keep a journal of your adventures. Keeping track of what Pokemon you catch and what trainers you battle. Not much is known about this feature.
No surprise, Ride Pokemon make a return to the Pokemon games. Personally, it is one of my favorite features in the game. Here is a list of the known ride Pokemon:
A unique ride Pokemon has been added to Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Mantine Surf allows you to travel between the islands of Alola, preforming tricks on the waves as you go.
You can also ride both forms of Necrozma (dependent on the version). It allows you to travel through the Ultra Wormholes into the homes of the Ultra Beasts and Legendary Pokemon. It is unclear how this feature will totally work.
Trials returning to Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon!
It has been confirmed that Trials are coming back to the Pokemon franchise, with some new Trial Captains this time. Mina has finally gotten her own trial, but most of them will probably be with the same people. More then likely this means gyms will not be in Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon, but who knows?
Many more Pokemon appearing
Over 400 different Pokemon are obtainable in the wild in the Alola Region now, which means an expanded Pokedex. Also, Houndoom and Alolan Vulpix will be an exclusive to Ultra Sun while Manetric and Alolan Sandshrew will be exclusive to Ultra Moon.
Whew, I think that just about covers it all. If you think I missed anything, leave it below in the comments and I will try and add it in. Again, sorry for the late news update!
