Collecting Pokémon cards can be a very fun hobby, but if you don’t know how rare your pokémon cards are then you might just trade away a rare card to your friend for a common card. In this post, I am going to show you how to tell how rare your Pokémon cards are. To find out how rare your card is you are going to want to look at the bottom right corner of your card. you will see a shape, either a circle, diamond, or star. If there is no shape at all then you have a special card that wasn’t available in a booster pack. The circle Looks like this: and means you have a common card. This is the diamond: , and it means you have an uncommon card. Now there are 4 different kinds of stars, but if your card has a star it is diffidently a rare. The first star is the basic rare: .
The next star looks like this: , now this star is holographic (which means it is reflective and has a silver color). 95% of the time it means that your card is ultra rare, the only exception is on a card like this:
This Banette Has the ex Power Keepers logo on it, and has gold lettering. This card is a reverse holo. Any card can be a reverse holo, but only the cards that are holo rare, get the gold lettering and holo star. The second to last star is this one: , it looks just like the previous star except for one thing, it has a white border, This star is only on the rarest of the rare cards like full art, Legend (not Legendary), etc… The last star looks like this: , this is the promo star, and signifies that your card is a promo rare. It is only on certain cards that were on the front of a tin, booster box, etc… also if you see a card with triple star just know that it is as rare as the second to last star. I hope this has helped, comment below if you have any questions.
